The monster's enormous stitched grin fills the panel.

It did work.

The blindfolded swordsman, a red-gray cloth tied over his eyes.
A single wide eye at the center of a burst of ink lines.

Until it actually came.

A bandaged hand reaches for a wooden sword hilt.
The monster roars over the swordsman with its jaw split open.
A corridor of birch trees under a white moon, the swordsman walking alone.
Full-page splash: the monster towers between the trees above the swordsman.
Silhouette of the swordsman mid-leap, blade raised.
A tiny figure silhouetted against a full moon in pure black.
Ink spray as the swordsman is struck. Caption: I didn't.
The swordsman leaps down, curved blade overhead.
Nick's drawing of himself, waving. Balloons: Hi! Thank you for reading my comic!

Nick Daulton

Hi, my name is Nicholas Daulton and I've loved making art and telling stories since I was young. I learned how to draw by pausing old VHS tapes of the Looney Tunes and trying to copy what was on the screen down on a piece of paper. I love to draw with pencil and with ink, but I like to do some painting as well.

About six years ago, I had an idea for a cool story. I didn't really know exactly how to make a graphic novel but I decided I was going to try until I figured it out.

I have two self-published graphic novels out now, each made over three years in my off time from work. I take inspiration from American comic writer/artists like Jeff Smith and Frank Miller, plus Japanese manga writer/artists like Naoki Urasawa and Akira Toriyama.
